Celebrating National Dog Day with President George W. Bush & rescue dog Freddy

Although rescuing a puppy wasn't in their plans when they visited the SPCA of Texas' Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in 2016, Freddy turned out to be irresistible and found his forever home that very day with President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

During his term as the 43rd, President and Mrs. Bush had two Scottish Terriers, Barney and Miss Beazley, and Spotty, an English Springer Spaniel who was one of Millie's puppies. Millie was the beloved English Springer Spaniel of President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush.

The Bush family is well-known for its love of dogs, including Sully, who served President George H.W. Bush while he suffered from Parkinson's Disease during the later stages of life in 2018. Several dogs occupied the Oval Office with President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush during his term as the 41st President, including Millie and one of her puppies, Ranger, both English Springer Spaniels.

Dog Like Me is about the love between a person and their dog, the amazing difference a dog can make our lives, and the unconditional love of a dog, which has no political affiliations. It's just pure, unconditional love, which we all need more of.
