Our Dogstory
Hey friends, this is Kara, founder of Dog Like Me. Most days you can find me in my home office in Saratoga Springs, NY or on a long walk with Walter. I am known for my work as a lawyer after 30+ years of practice, and as a college professor after 5 years of teaching business, communications & entrepreneurial classes.
People often think of me as a problem solver, a workaholic, and a community builder. I am most passionate about my family and friends, dogs, fine wine and making the world a better place. When my kids were little and they’d ask me what I wanted for Christmas, I always said "World Peace." Those two simple words mean more than ever right now. I am a firm believer in lifting others up, mentoring and showing kindness without expecting anything in return.
The idea for Dog Like Me started when I noticed similarities between people and their dogs. After interviewing a lot of dog lovers, I began to appreciate the profound effect that the unconditional love of a dog can have on someone’s life. I knew these stories would connect and inspire people.
Dog Like Me has evolved into a place where people can learn how to grow their own community, share resources, and be inspired. The best part about Dog Like Me is the genuine relationships that dog lovers from around the world have made by engaging in our community. We’ve shared Dogstories from almost all 50 states and over 30 countries.
When I’m not busy being a lawyer or working on Dog Like Me, you can catch me in the Adirondack Mountains or the beaches of Cape Cod with my family. You would likely see me talking to someone and their dog – so hard to resist!
